The GVC is a Remote Pilot Competency Certificate, suitable for VLOS (Visual Line of Sight) operations within the Specific Category. It enables you to apply for an Operational Authorisation, issued by the CAA and crucial for specific category operations. This course includes six online training modules accessed through RUAS Learning Management System, followed by 1-day classroom based training at RUAS’ training facility, The production of an Operations Manual followed by a practical flight assessment at a later date to suit the student. The student must hold an Operator & Flyer ID prior to arrival on the course.

What is the General VLOS Certificate (GVC)?

On successful completion of the GVC you will be able to apply to the UK Civil Aviation Authority to gain your Operational Authorisation. The GVC qualification is valid for 5 years.

This qualification allows you to:

Fly drones up to 25 kg in built-up areas safely and legally.
